Troy Claims 4-3 Victory Over UTA

ARLINGTON, Texas- The Troy women's tennis team (3-7, 1-1 SBC)) topped conference opponent UTA 4-3 in an exciting match on Wednesday. A solid day from senior Nancy Karaky clinched both the doubles point and the singles match point for the Trojans.
In doubles competition, UTA took the first match, but a 6-4 win from Efriliya Herlina and Jiayuan Xue evened things up as all eyes turned to court one. In a hard fought match, seniors Karaky and Sanae Ohta clinched the doubles point with a gutsy 7-6 (4) win.
On the singles courts, UTA picked up the first win, but Troy bounced back to regain the lead Pei Ju Hsieh delivered a 6-4, 6-2 win. Herlina followed with a 7-6, 6-0 win on court two to expand Troy's lead to 3-1
Two back-to-back Maverick points evened the match at 3-3 for Karaky on court four. She dropped the first set 6-3, but rallied back to take set two 6-3 and the third set decision 7-5 to clinch the huge conference match for the Trojans.
Troy will continue road play as it travels to Dallas to take on SMU on Friday and Denton, Texas to face North Texas on Saturday.
