Baseball Heads to In-State Rival UAB Tuesday

TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball will travel to Regions Field in Birmingham to face off with in-state rival UAB in midweek action Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The Trojans (11-5) and Blazers (6-8) meet for the second time this season – Troy took game one, 3-2, at Riddle-Pace Field on February 28. In the game, Joey Denison hit his first of 11 RBIs that week that earned him Sun Belt Player of the Week honors.

Last time out, Troy completed a three-game sweep of Gardner-Webb with a combined shutout on Saturday afternoon. The Trojans swiped nine bases in the series moving them into 19^th nationally in the category.

JUCO transfer Sadler Goodwin (0-1) will make his first career start on the mound. Goodwin has started nine games in the field for the Trojans this season – eight at third base and one at the designated hitter position. With the start, he will be the first Troy player to start a game both in the field and on the mound in the same season since Rob Brown in 2008.

UAB has sputtered as of late, losing seven of its last nine games – including the loss at Troy. The Blazers dropped 2-of-3 to Milwaukee this past weekend, but took the middle game of the series, 10-0.
