TROY, Alabama – For the second straight week, Troy sophomore guard Kayla Robinson was named Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Robinson became the first Trojan to ever win the award in consecutive weeks after leading Troy in a come-from-behind 82-71 victory over rival South Alabama on Saturday. The Clyo, Ga., native tallied 28 points and 11 rebounds, both career highs, to go along with six assists.
Troy rallied from 15 points down to take down the league's second place team and win its fourth straight game. Robinson was the spark in the fourth quarter chalking up 17 points and five rebounds in eight minutes of action as the Trojans went on a 21-1 run. The sophomore was 5-for-6 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line in the final frame. She finished the game 10-for-19 shooting and with her second double-double in the past three games.
Last week, Robinson earned the honor after dropping a combined 42 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists at ULM and UL Lafayette.
Troy hosts Arkansas State on Thursday, a team Robinson burned for 23 points last season. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at Trojan Arena.
