Troy Trounces Alabama State by 70

TROY, Alabama – Troy dominated from start to finish in a 116-46 throttling of Alabama State on Thursday in Trojan Arena. The 70-point margin of victory is the largest against a Division I opponent in program history.
Seven Trojans scored in double figures led by Jasmine Sanders with 21 on 8-of-9 shooting. Kayla Robinson nearly etched her name in the record book with 10 points, nine assists and eight rebounds – just shy of becoming the first player in Troy Division I history to record a triple-double.
Off to its best start since the 1990-91 season, Troy (6-1) opened the game on a 10-0 run and scored 12 points in the first two-and-a-half minutes. Sky'Lynn Holmes played a large role in getting Troy off on the right foot hauling in six offensive rebounds in the opening three minutes, she finished with 12 points and 11 boards for her seventh career double-double and second of the season.
The Trojans scored 53 points off 36 turnovers in the game while also winning the rebounding battle, 51-25. Troy collected a season-high 29 offensive rebounds that resulted in 33 second chance points.
Sanders knocked down 4-of-5 shots from 3-point range, while Amber Rivers added a trio of treys to land 17 points. Jasmine Robinson and Shaterrika O'Neal checked in with 12 points each and Harriet Winchester added 10 points as well.
As a team, Troy shot a season-best 50.6 percent (43-85) from the field including 57.2 percent in the second half.
Jayla Crawford finished with 12 points to lead Alabama State (0-5).

"So many players contributed in so many ways," said head coach Chanda Rigby. "You hope to dial the right number, we've started a different five almost every game. This was definitely a good starting five, they showed they were focused, they created those points off of defense and rebounds."
