SAN MARCOS, Texas – In its final game of an eight match road swing, Troy (5-11, 0-2 SBC) fell to to Texas State (9-7, 1-1 SBC) 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-12) at the Strahan Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

Texas State carried the momentum throughout the match as the Bobcats out-killed the Trojans 41-27 and posted a .486 hitting percentage while holding the Trojan offense to a .075 hitting percentage in the match.

Troy stayed neck-and-neck with the Bobcats early in the first set, but a few solid runs from Texas State handed the Bobcats a 1-0 lead in the match as the momentum stayed on the home side of the net for the remainder of the match.

Texas State went on an eight-point run in the second set to force the Trojans to use two of their timeouts. A kill out of the huddle from Belle Waldrop gave Trot a much-needed point to close the gap on a 10-point Bobcat lead. Troy rallied back, but couldn't find the answers they needed against the powerful Texas State offense.

In the third set, the Bobcats jumped out in front early as Troy wasn't quite able to find a lead. Sophomore Amy Pflughaupt led the Bobcats with 11 kills, the last one ending the match as Texas State defeated Troy 25-12 in the third set to earn its ninth win of the season.

Cheyenne Hayes and Jenni Young stepped up for the Trojans each posting eight kills and eight points in the match. Young's eight kills on 12 total attempts with no errors earned her a team and career-high .667 hitting percentage.

Troy looks to snap a three-game losing streak as it returns home to host Sun Belt opponents Georgia Southern and Georgia State Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30. First serve for both matches is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Trojan Arena. Admission to all Troy volleyball matches is free.
