TROY, Alabama- In it's first conference match at home, Troy (5-12, 0-3 SBC) fell to the Georgia Southern Eagles (5-8, 2-1 SBC) 3-0 on Friday night at the Trojan Arena.

Both teams were evenly matched each posting 40 kills, but Georgia Southern continued to find timely kills and blocks to seal three straight wins and its second conference win of the season.

Troy took an early 6-3 lead in set one and continues to hold on to the lead until the Eagles tied the set up at 18-18 and swung the momentum to the visitor side of the court. Georgia Southern won four of the final five points to seal a set one win and take a 1-0 match lead.

The Trojans jumped out in front again in set two, but a five-point run by the eagles set the Trojans back. Troy regained a short lead, but the efficient Eagles went on several timely runs to take a 25-22 win in set two.

Both teams battled it out in the third and final set. The Trojans rallied and found offensive answers to the Eagles and even took a late 20-19 lead. But a five-point run by Georgia Southern forced Troy to use two time outs. Troy came out of the timeout winning two straight points, but Georgia Southern was able to cap the match with a 25-22 win in set three.

Jenni Young paced the Trojans with a career-high 14 kills, .480 hitting percentage and 14.5 points for Troy. Defensively, Troy's 21 digs against the Eagles is a season low.

NOTEWORTHY

Senior setter Reina Terry played in her 100^th career match as a Trojan, the most of any current Trojan.
Troy continues to lead its opponents in kills (762-670), assists (710-607), aces (92-71), and digs (719-710).
Belle Waldrop leads the team with 146 kills (2.39 kills/set), while Lauren Long is a close second with 142 kills.
Georgia Southern has now won five straight matches against the Trojans and have a 8-2 all-time series lead.
Four different Trojans, SaraGrace Wilson, Kiara Barrett, Bethany Cullity and Terry, posted a service ace in the match.

UP NEXT
Troy continues conference play at home as it takes on Georgia State on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the Trojan Arena. Admission is free and the first 50 fans receive a OneTROY cup.
