Jared Bettcher Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar

TROY, Alabama – For the second straight year, Troy's Jared Bettcher has been named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Bettcher, a native of Auburn, Ala., wrapped up his Troy playing career this past spring with a 72.48 stroke average and his third All-Sun Belt First Team award. He led the Trojans with 97 percent (32-of-33) of his rounds counting towards the team card and tied for second with 12 rounds under par.
Bettcher, who is on track to graduate with his degree in exercise science this fall, led the Trojans with a 72.06 stroke average during the spring as Troy qualified for its third straight NCAA Regional. Bettcher tied for 24th place at the NCAA College Grove Regional with a 5-over 221 as Troy placed sixth, just one spot off qualifying for the NCAA Championship.
