Trevor Davis Named Sun Belt Player of the Week

TROY, Alabama – Troy senior outfielder Trevor Davis has been named the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Davis posted a .529 batting average (9-for-17) with six RBIs, a home run and three runs scored as the Trojans knocked off No. 5 Auburn and defending national champion Coastal Carolina. He finished with multiple hits and multiple RBIs in three of the four games on the week and posted a 1.285 OPS.

The native of Fort Mitchell, Ala., opened the week with a flawless performance at Auburn where he went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and was also hit by a pitch. The four hits were a career-high for Davis who put Troy on the board with an RBI single in the first and provided an insurance run with an RBI single in the sixth inning of the 5-2 victory.

Davis capped a four-run fourth inning in Troy's 4-0 victory at Coastal Carolina in Friday's series opener with his fifth home run of the season – a two-run shot to right field. He added a hit and two RBIs in game two of the series and followed with two hits in the finale.

Troy hosts Jacksonville State on Wednesday night to open an eight-game homestand to close out the 2017 home slate. The Trojans host Appalachian State this weekend in a three-game Sun Belt series.
