Troy Travels to Defending National Champion Coastal Carolina

TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball is headed to Conway, S.C., for a three-game Sun Belt series with the defending national champions, Coastal Carolina; first pitch for Friday's series opener is set for 5 p.m. (CT), Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) and Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT).

Troy (23-17, 9-9) is riding a five-game winning streak after defeating the fifth-ranked Auburn Tigers in mid-week action Tuesday night.

All but one of the Trojan starters hit safely in the 14-hit offensive explosion – including a 4-for-4 night for Trevor Davis and a 3-for-6 performance for Matt Sanders. Jackson Cofer dealt the biggest blow of the night, blasting a three-run jack for his first career homer to give Troy a four-run advantage.

Brandon Lockridge has been the catalyst for the Trojan offense batting at a .341 clip this season. He has hit safely in 24 of the last 25 games with 13 multi-hit games over that span.

Andrew Crane (3-1, 1.46) will get the nod from Troy head coach Mark Smartt in game one of the set. Daren Osby (4-3, 3.74) and Austin Crook (5-1, 3.26) will round out the weekend on the mound for the Trojans.

Crane – who has thrown 18.2 consecutive scoreless innings – and Crook were both spectacular in their last starts, both working six shutout innings against Texas State, who led the conference in batting at the time.

The Chanticleers (25-15-1, 11-6-1) dropped 2-of-3 to Georgia Southern over the weekend but bounced back to defeat The Citadel Tuesday night.

Coastal's Kevin Woodall, Jr., leads the conference and is 11^th in the nation in home runs with 14 on the season, while Friday's starter on the mound, Alex Cunningham, leads the league in strikeouts and is third in ERA.
