ARLINGTON, Texas – Despite a three-hit game from leadoff man, Matt Sanders, Troy dropped the first of two games with UT Arlington, 9-6, Friday at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The Trojans (13-11, 3-4) were led at the plate by Sanders, who finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a double. Justin Friend and Drew Frederic both contributed two hits and an RBI to the 10 hit day by Troy – Friend ended 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, while Frederic went 2-for-5.

Daren Osby (4-2) suffered only his second loss of the season after allowing six runs on five hits and only striking out one in 3.1 innings of work.

UT Arlington (13-14, 4-3) snapped a three-game skid as they strung together two four-innings and posted 10 hits in the contest. Christian Hollie led the Mavericks with a 3-for-4 performance, driving in two and scoring once.

Reliever Dylan Schneider (1-2) won his first game of the season – only scattering a run on three hits in 3.2 innings on the mound. Daniel James retired the Trojans in order in the ninth to earn his fourth save of the season.

• Brandon Lockridge singled in the first to extend his on-base streak to 24 straight games to begin the season – he has hit safely in 22 of the 24.

• Drew Frederic reached twice to add to his on-base streak – which now sits at 16 games in a row.

• The Trojans have now lost three in a row to UT Arlington and will have to win the next two to win their first ever series against the Mavericks.

• After winning four in a row, Troy has dropped five of its last seven games.

WHAT'S UP NEXT?
Game two of the doubleheader is will start at 7:10 p.m. Friday. The Trojans will look to bounce back behind the arm of Andrew Crane (0-0, 2.51), who is making his first start of his career.
