Men’s Golf Clips Alabama, Three Top-45 Teams at Linger Longer

GREENSBORO, Georgia – Troy fired a 2-under 286 in the final round of the Linger Longer Invitational to finish in fourth place in a field that featured 10 teams ranked in the top 75 nationally. Among the teams Troy defeated were Alabama, No. 37 Michigan, No. 43 Kennesaw State and No. 45 Middle Tennessee.
Troy finished third in the field with 61 birdies over the three rounds, while Luke Moser and Jared Bettcher tied for third in the field with 16 birdies. Troy has now played at or below par in its last eight rounds heading into final the tournament of the season before the Sun Belt Championship.
Moser picked up his first top-10 finish of the season as he shot a 5-under 211 to finish in a tie for 10th place, which included victories over five top-100 players. Moser, Bettcher, Cam Norman and Clayton Vannoy all recorded victories over the nation's No. 5 player in Virginia's Jimmy Stanger.
Vannoy climbed nine spots and tied for 23rd after carding a 3-under 69 in Tuesday's final round; it was his fifth round in the 60s this season. Bettcher fired a 2-under 70 to move into a tie for 30th place with teammate Cam Norman at 1-over for the tournament. Calum Master shot even par in the final round and tied for 56th overall.
No. 4 Baylor ran away with the team title with a 15-shot victory over No. 8 Virginia, while No. 20 Georgia finished third just one shot ahead of Troy.
Troy returns to action March 31 through April 2 at the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt.
