Troy Women’s Hoops Hosts Stillman to Open Season

TROY, Alabama – 243 days after claiming its second consecutive Sun Belt Conference title, the Troy women's basketball team begins its quest for title number three as the team hosts Stillman on Friday in Trojan Arena at 12 p.m. Admission is FREE.
The Trojans were picked to finished third in the preseason conference poll, but must replace seven seniors, including the top four scorers from last season. An abundance of fresh faces will be on display including Sky'Lynn Holmes, who was rated a top 25 junior college recruit nationally out of Tyler Junior College. Holmes scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in Troy's exhibition win over AUM on Nov. 1.
Troy and Stillman (1-2) have met twice previously, most recently in 1978 when the Tigers took the victory, 76-67, when the teams were members of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW).

Division II Stillman is off to a 1-2 start with a win over Middle Georgia State on Nov. 4. Senior Ki'Onna Likely returns after leading the squad with 16 points per game last season. Also back is sophomore Michaia Fluellen, who averaged 11 points and nine rebounds a year again.

• The Trojans have seven players who could make Division I debuts on Friday, including four freshmen.
• Troy has won 11 of its last 13 home non-conference contests and are 15-7 all-time at home against non-Sun Belt foes under Chanda Rigby.
• The Trojans have scored 80-plus points in 73 games under Rigby and has led the conference in scoring the last five seasons.
• The team ranked 38th in the NCAA and second in the Sun Belt with 9.9 steals per game. In Rigby's five seasons, Troy has forced 83 opponents into 20-plus turnovers.
