Troy Falls to Coastal Carolina in Regular Season Finale

TROY, Alabama- The Troy volleyball team (10-21, 4-12) wrapped up its season at home as it fell to conference leader Coastal Carolina (18-7, 15-1 SBC) in four sets.

Troy got off to a solid start fighting for a 27-25 win in set one to take an early 1-0 match lead. Â Each team posted 16 kills in the set, but the Trojans came out on top as they held the Chanticleers to a match-low .195 hitting percentage, while Troy hit a match-high .205. The Trojans took a 10-6 lead, but Coastal rallied from behind to tie the set at 11-11. Both squads battled, but it was two straight kills from sophomore Belle Waldrop that put the set on ice.

Coastal Carolina bounced back to take the next three sets, as the Troy offense struggles to find the floor. The Chanticleers took set two 25-12 behind seven kills from Leah Hardeman. Coastal posted an attack percentage of .464 in the second set.

Troy fought back in the third, but ultimately fell 25-21 as Coastal Carolina took a 2-1 match lead. Freshman Cheyenne Hayes put up four kills in the set, but that wasn't enough to stop the powerful Chanticleer offense.

Coastal Carolina used all of its momentum to seal the match with a 25-9 win in set four, Troy's lowest scoring set of the season.

Hayes had another big outing for the Trojans leading the team with 11 kills. She also added two aces in the match and three blocks.

UP NEXT
Troy will travel to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and will play on Thursday, November 16 in Jonesboro, Ark.
