Women’s Tennis Finishes Day Two of FSU Showdown

TALLAHASSEE, Florida- Six members of the Troy women's team completed day two of the FSU All-Conference Showdown.
Sanae Ohta advanced to the semifinals with her win on Friday, but narrowly fell on Saturday to Nandini Das of FSU in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. She will face an opponent from MTSU on Sunday for third place.
Three players advanced to the consolation finals in their respective draws. Junior Hannah Seizer defeated Danielle Burich of Iowa 6-1, 7-6 in the consolation semifinals. She will face Melissa Pick in the consolation final. Herlina also picked up a win with a three set, 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 win over Michelle Linden of Wisconsin. Herlina will play an opponent from Iowa in another consolation final draw. Nancy Karaky will also play tomorrow following a 7-6 (6), 6-1 victory over Dori Huckleby of Iowa.
Maria Casas Blas advanced after defeating Hannah Ferrett from Furman 6-3, 6-2 for the Osceoloa Draw consolation title.
In doubles play, Karaky and Ohta advanced to the finals, where they fell in a hard-fought match 8-7 (6). Herlina and Seizer defeated a duo from West Virginia 8-2 and will face a pair from Wisconsin Sunday in the consolation finals.
Freshmen Matea Mihaljevic and Casas Blas advanced to the semifinals, but fell to ETSU 8-1, just short of the Speart draw finals. They will face MTSU for third place.
