TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Troy was unable to send many through to the second round in the first day of the CCB Collegiate Invitational on Friday as just one singles match and one doubles match went the Trojans' way.
Antonio Selma was the lone victor for the Trojans as he came from behind to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 over Portland in his draw. He will advance to face UAB in the second round on Saturday with a chance to advance to the semifinals.
In doubles play, it was Selma again who came out on top as he teamed with Mustapha Belcora for an 8-4 win over South Alabama. They will face Portland in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Troy had three other players participating in singles play, but only Pelayo Antuna was able to stretch his match to three sets.
