Women’s Tennis Heads to S.C. for Weekend Matches

TROY, Alabama - The Troy women's tennis team travels to Rock Hill and Greenville, S.C., for a pair of non-conference matches. The Trojans will face Winthrop on Saturday, Jan. 28, and Furman on Sunday, Jan. 29. Saturday's match will begin at 12 p.m. CT and Sunday's match will begin at 10 a.m. CT.
The Trojans are looking to rebound after dropping two matches in Blacksburg, Va., to open their season. Nancy Karaky had a strong opening weekend winning both her singles and doubles matches against Virginia Tech. Efriliya Herlina, Luisia Ferrauti and Alicia Rodriguez all picked up wins in hard fought matches against Southern Conference Tournament champions ETSU.

SCOUTING REPORT
- The Winthrop Eagles are coming off a 20-6 season and a Big South Conference record of 8-1. The Eagles won the Big South Conference tournament last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, falling to South Carolina in the first round.
- Furman finished their 2016 season with a 15-9 overall record and finished undefeated in the Southern Conference. The Paldins ended their season with a loss to Samford in the SoCon Tournament semifinals.
NOTEWORTHY
- This is the first meeting between the Trojans and the Winthrop Eagles in recorded history.
- The Trojans won the last meeting against Furman 4-1 on Feb. 10, 2013.
