Troy Men's Basketball Announces 2016-17 Non-Conference Schedule

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's basketball team announced on Wednesday the non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2016-17 schedule. The Trojans will play five home contests and travel to Illinois, California, Nevada and Hawaii among other locations.

A three-game stretch at home in six days will start on Dec. 1 against South Florida continue on Dec. 4 against Alabama State and finish on Dec. 10 against Alabama A&M.

One contest will be held at the Dothan Civic Center on Dec. 14 against Point University before Troy finishes off the non-conference slate with four games on the west coast.

The Trojans will play in the Las Vegas Classic with the first game being played in Los Angeles at USC on Dec. 17 followed by a game at Wyoming on Dec. 19 and then wrapping up with the final two being held at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. against Cornell on Dec. 22 and either SEMO or Chicago St. on Dec. 23.

"The difficulty of this year's non-conference portion of our schedule will definitely prepare us for Sun Belt play," head coach Phil Cunningham said.  "Nine of our 14 games will be played away from Trojan Arena so we better be ready to play on the road early.  We've got an experienced team coming back though and this group will be excited about the challenge."
The first game of the year will be Nov. 11 against Toccoaa Falls at home, followed by another home game on Nov. 14 against Eastern Illinois. From there, Troy will go into a four-game road swing at UAB on Nov.17, Eastern Illinois on Nov. 21, San Francisco on Nov. 23 and Hawaii on Nov. 25.Â
