Women’s Golf Opens Season at Vandy

TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's golf team opens its fall schedule this weekend at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club's North Course. Play opens with 18 holes on Friday and continues with single rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
The Trojans return their entire lineup that finished second at the Sun Belt Conference Championship last season. Head coach Bart Barnes will send out a veteran lineup on the course the opening weekend with seniors Fátima Fernández Cano, Gabi Oubre' and Becca Horner joined by sophomores Bianca Lohbauer and Lindsey Harrison.
Troy won three team titles last season, including the Rebel Intercollegiate hosted by Ole Miss. Cano finished the year with one of the most impressive individual performances in the country as she won five tournaments and finished in the top six in eight of 10 regular season events.
Lohbauer finished the year strong as she tied for third at the Rebel Intercollegiate and led the Trojans with a fifth-place finish at the Sun Belt Championship.
The Trojans will be paired with Yale and Chattanooga and the pairing will tee off on the back nine beginning at 9:55 a.m.
The Field
Joining Troy in the loaded field will be Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Chattanooga, Houston, Michigan State, Middle Tennessee, Northwestern, SMU, Tulane, UCF, Vanderbilt and Virginia.
Noteworthy
• Troy set a new school record after shooting a 12-under 276 in the second round of the Samford Intercollegiate last season.
• The Trojans also set school records for the lowest 36-hole score and the lowest 54-hole score. Troy shot a 577 and 870 at the Samford Intercollegiate to set those marks.
• Fátima Fernández Cano, who holds the school record for lowest round, set the marks for lowest 36-hole and 54-hole scores last season. Cano shot an 8-under 136 over the opening two rounds of the Samford Intercollegiate and finished with an 8-under 208 at the event.
• The Trojans averaged a 298.56 as a team last spring after posting a mark of 304.38 in the fall.
• Gabi Ourbe' finished second behind Fátima Fernández Cano with six finishes in the top 25, while Bianca Lohbauer had five finishes in the top 25.
