Troy Soccer Holds First Practice of 2016 Season

Home Opener Set for Aug. 26
TROY, Alabama – The Troy soccer team opened training on Wednesday as head coach Jason Hamilton welcomed 14 newcomers to the club to join 18 returning players.

"Today, we just let them play," Hamilton said.

"We didn't do a lot of coaching, we wanted to see how they interacted and communicated with each other. We saw some good thing and then we saw some things that we need to go ahead and address. Overall, it was a very light day, but an opportunity for them to get out there and get some touches on the ball."

The team will practice each day before traveling to Orange Beach, Ala., to take on Alabama in an exhibition on Aug. 14.

Troy is coming of a 14-4-2 campaign and a second place finish in the league during the regular season. The Trojans open the 2016 season on the road against Gardner-Webb on Aug. 19 and play their first home match against Belmont on Aug. 26.
