Women’s Golf Earns NCAA Public Recognition Award

TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's golf program received the NCAA Public Recognition Award for having its Academic Progress Rate (APR) finish in the top 10 percent of all women's golf programs in the country, the NCAA recently announced.
"We are extremely proud of what this team was able to accomplish," Troy Sr. Associate Athletics Director Sandy Atkins said. "To win a Sun Belt Conference championship, compete at an NCAA Regional and receive public recognition from the NCAA for their APR, is a remarkable achievement that each one of those student-athletes should cherish when they reflect on their career as a Trojan."
Troy's women's golf program finished with a perfect 1,000 APR for the 2014-15 academic year. The APR is a scorecard that tracks classroom performance of Division I sports teams, and it takes into account eligibility and retention of student-athletes over a four-year period. It measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or quarter and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in each sport.
In addition to excellence in the classroom, the 2015 women's golf team won their second straight Sun Belt Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA South Bend Regional. Fátima Fernández Cano, Langley Vannoy and Taylor McGraw earned All-Sun Belt honors for that team, while Becca Horner earned All-Tournament honors and Sydney Conrad tied for 13th at the Sun Belt Championship.
