Troy Baseball Lands Junior College Pitcher Daren Osby

TROY, Alabama – The Troy baseball team lands junior college right-handed pitcher in Daren Osby for the upcoming season head coach Mark Smartt announced on Monday.

"Daren has the opportunity to impact our program right away," Smartt said. "He offers great size and loves to compete which will help him right away. His strikeout totals come from his ability to throw a high number of strikes with a quality breaking ball that has swing and miss capability. He played a huge role as a freshman in 2015 for Walters State as they made another run in Grand Junction. That experience should prove valuable at the Division 1 level. Walters State and coach, Dave Shelton, have always put its players in a great position to succeed at the next level."

The 6-3, 230-pound pitcher is coming off a 10-2 season with 100 strikeouts in 91.2 innings pitched with Walters State in 2016. He pitched seven complete games, which lead to his 3.14 ERA. In 2015, he led his team to an NJCAA Grand Junction appearance.

Osby is the tenth newcomer to join the 2017 team for the Trojans.
