TROY, Alabama – Troy soccer concluded spring play on April 16 with two 1-0 losses, one to Kennesaw State and the other to Mercer in Macon, Ga.
Â
However, the two losses were the only losses by the Trojans this spring as the team previously won four and tied one, completing their record at 4-2-1. Troy outscored its opponents in the spring contests, 11-5.
Â
"We're really happy with how the spring went for us this year," Jason Hamilton said. "The spring is all about developing players and getting more experience on the field. In that aspect it went really well."
Â
The biggest margin of victory came on February 27, against Jacksonville State in a 4-0 win. Next, the Trojans won a doubleheader on April 2, against Western Kentucky, 1-0 and Middle Tennessee, 3-1.
Â
On April 8, Troy hosted Alabama and won a 3-2 decision. The Trojans tied with West Florida, 0-0 the day after on April 9.
Â
Troy signed 13 newcomers in the offseason that will be joining the team this fall. 11 of the 13 newcomers signed on National Signing Day in early February.
Â
The 2015 Troy team finished second in the Sun Belt and finished with a 14-4-2 overall record and a 6-2-1 conference record. Last years squad set 14 individual career-records, two single-season records and seven team records including season attendance, fewest losses and highest winning percentage.
Â
Two teams that made the NCAA Tournament in 2015, in Ole Miss and Florida State, highlight the 2016 fall season. Ole Miss made it to the third round before falling Texas A&M and Florida State made it to the quarterfinals and was one of four No. 1 seeds.
Â
The Trojans will begin play on August 14, 2016 against Alabama in an exhibition match, which will begin at 6 p.m.
Â
Troy soccer will also be hosting camps this summer with two youth camps on June 6-9 and June 13-16, along with an elite overnight camp for high school and junior college athletes. Click HERE for more information on upcoming camps.
