NEW ORLEANS – Three Troy tennis student-athletes were named to the Sun Belt All-Conference tennis teams, the league office announced at a pre-championship banquet on Thursday night.Â
Â
For the Troy women, sophomore Sanae Ohta was a first-team singles selection. For the Troy men, junior Pablo Moreno and sophomore Andy Lau were named to the doubles first team, and Moreno was a singles second team selection.
Â
Ohta, a Tokyo native, posted a 19-10 singles record on the year, including a 12-3 mark in the spring dual match season. Ohta had won nine straight matches before dropping her regular season finale at No. 57 Florida State.

Â
This season, Moreno posted an 18-9 overall singles record and a 14-6 record in spring dual matches. He won 10 straight matches mid-way through the spring, with half of those wins coming against opponents from ranked teams. In all, Moreno won seven matches against players from ranked teams.
Â
On the doubles court, Moreno combined with Lau, a Hong Kong native, to record a 7-4 record, all in the spring. The duo was 7-3 at No. 1 doubles, including winning five of their last six matches together.
Â
The selections for the Troy men were the eighth and ninth All-Sun Belt honors in three seasons under head coach Scott Kidd. For the Troy women, Ohta's selection was the sixth All-Sun Belt honor in three seasons under head coach Rawia Elsisi.
Â
The Troy women open their Sun Belt Championships play on Friday as the No. 5 seed with a quarterfinal against No. 4 Georgia Southern at 8 a.m. The Troy men are the defending Sun Belt Champions and the No. 3 seed this year. They will play their quarterfinal at 3 p.m. against No. 6 Appalachian State. Both matches will be played at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center in New Orleans.
