TROY, Alabama – Troy couldn't overcome six home runs from No. 5 UL Lafayette as the visiting Ragin' Cajuns swept a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader Friday at the Troy Softball Complex; the Cajuns won the opener 11-0 and took the nightcap by an 8-1 score.

The game was close for the first five innings as UL Lafayette (24-2, 6-1 Sun Belt) carried just a 3-0 advantage into the top of the sixth inning. However, the Cajuns plated three runs in the sixth – two on a home run from Sara Corbello – and five in the seventh inning to set the lopsided final score.
Â
ULL got the early jump in the first inning on a solo home run from Shellie Landry. The Cajuns plated two more runs on singles by Kara Gremillion and Haley Haden in the second to grab a 3-0 advantage.
Â
Kate Benton, who entered the weekend batting .478, led the Trojans (21-9, 4-4 Sun Belt) with three hits in four at-bats; she added two more hits in game two to raise her average to .490 on the year. Heather Johnston was the only other Trojan to pick up a hit in the game as she finished 2-for-3.
Â
Alex Stewart (11-0) stayed perfect on the season for the Cajuns as she struck out 11 and walked just one to pick up the win. Ashley Rainey (11-7) suffered the loss in the circle for the Trojans as she allowed six runs on eight hits in 6.2 innings of work.

The Cajuns once again jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first and third innings around a four spot in the second.

Corbello and Landry got in on the home run action and sent two out of the park in the second inning to extend the Cajun lead to 6-0. ULL scored a pair of unearned runs in the third to close out its scoring.
Â
Troy's lone run of the game came off the bat of Amanda Winters when she blasted her seventh home run of the season to dead center in the fourth inning. Benton was the only other Trojan to have a hit in the game as she went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Â
Kylee Jo Trahan improved to 10-2 on the season for the Cajuns as she allowed just the one run on three hits with eight strikeouts over seven innings of work. Peyton Glover (5-1) took the loss for the Trojans after she allowed eight runs – six earned – on seven hits in 2.1 innings of work.
