Troy Softball Falls to Georgia State in Series Finale

TROY, Alabama - The Troy softball team fell to Georgia State, 6-2, at the Troy Softball Complex on Sunday.

Georgia State (13-12, 2-1 Sun Belt) racked up seven hits on the day and scored six runs to clinch the win over the Trojans, taking the series.

The Panthers had a monster fifth inning and scored five of their six runs. Ivie Drake hit a single up the middle that scored Brenna Skalski to start things off for Georgia State. Two more runs crossed the plate on a Trojan error making the score 3-2. Arden Jobe kept things going with a single that scored Reagan Morgan and Kensey Caldwell plated the last run of the inning on a groundout to second.

Troy (17-7, 1-2 Sun Belt) could only push two runs across the plate on five hits. Erica Davis stepped to the plate in the second inning and sent a long ball over the left field wall for the early Trojan lead. Heather Johnston got things started in the third inning with a standup triple. Allison Moore pinch ran for Johnston and scored Troy's final run on a double play turned by the Panthers.

Ashley Rainey (10-6) suffered the loss for the Trojans giving up four runs on six hits.

Amanda Chance (2-1) got the win in the circle for the Panthers giving up three hits and didn't let a run cross the plate in five innings of work.

Troy is set to host Florida A&M on Wednesday at the Troy Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 5Â p.m.
