Troy Men’s Tennis Wins Sixth Straight, Second Against Ranked Team

TAMPA – The Troy men's tennis team won its sixth straight, and its second straight against a ranked team, coming back to beat No. 65 UNC Wilmington, 4-3, at the USF Spring Break Invitational on Saturday.
Troy (10-10) dropped the doubles point as all three matches finished with 6-4 scores, but the Seahawks won at No. 1 and No. 3. UNCW (6-5) then took a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 2 singles.
Daniel Bustamante put the Trojans on the board with a 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 1., then Giovani Samaha tied things up with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3.
Mustapha Belcora put Troy up, 3-2, with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles before UNCW won at No. 6 to force a deciding match.
Troy's winning streak came down to the play of Andy Lau, and the Troy sophomore won a tight third set in a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win to give Troy the win.
Troy will look for a third straight win against a ranked team on Sunday when it takes on No. 16 USF.
