Troy Men's Tennis Picks Up Three Wins

MACON, Ga. – The first day of the Mercer Gridiron Invitational began with the Troy men's tennis team notching victories in both singles and doubles play.

The Trojans went 2-2 in doubles play on the first day of the event with Jaiqi Duan and Austin Racine defeating Florida Southern 6-1 and Mustapha Belcora and Amer Bedwan defeating Mercer 6-1.

Troy went 1-1 in singles play, gaining a victory from Gabriel Niculescu, who defeated Dani Casablancas of Georgia Southern 6-4, 6-2.

NOTEWORTHY
•  It was the first appearance on the season for Amer Bedwan, who joined the team as a freshman this week.

•  The doubles losses both came in the quarterfinals as Andre Baldo and Gabriel Niculescu fell 6-2 to Mercer and Duan and Racine fell 7-5 Georgia Southern

•  Falling in singles was Shazz Perrani, competing for the first time this year, who lost 6-3, 6-2 to Florida Southern.

UP NEXT
The Mercer Invitational will continue through Sunday. Second round action will take place on Saturday and the championship rounds will be held on Sunday.
