TROY, Alabama – Troy women's basketball signee Jessie Day has been nominated for the 2016 McDonald's All American Games, as announced by McDonald's earlier this week.
Day, a 6-foot-1 forward from Niceville, Fla., has helped Niceville High School to a 13-6 record so far this season, including a 2-0 start to district play. Last season she averaged 18.8 points per game as a junior and helped the Eagles to the FHSAA Class 7A Elite Eight for the first time in school history.
She was selected to the NWF Daily News All-Area team as a sophomore and junior and was also a third team all-state selection in each of those two seasons. Day is the younger sister of current Troy junior Lauren Day.
"We are so proud that Jessie has been nominated for the McDonald's All American Games," Troy head coach Chanda Rigby said. "Jessie's versatility, talent, and determination have set her apart as one of the nation's elite players. We are elated that she has chosen to be a Troy Trojan. We wish her all the best as she finishes out her high school career and we are anxiously awaiting her to join us at Troy."
The final roster of 24 players for the 2016 McDonald's All American Games will be announced during a selection show on ESPNU on Jan. 17 at 9:30 p.m. CT. The games, which showcase the top high school seniors in the country, will begin on March 30 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
