Troy Soccer Announces Addition of Tennessee Transfer

TROY, Alabama - The Troy soccer team added Gretchen Cagle, a transfer from Tennessee, to the 2016 soccer roster, Jason Hamilton announced on Friday.

"We are happy to have Gretchen join what we already consider a very good goal keeper group," Jason Hamilton said. "She is a very good shot stopper, and is looking forward to the opportunity to compete for time."

Coming out of high school Cagle was ranked as the No. 3 player in her region by Top Drawer Soccer in 2014. She helped lead Pensacola Catholic to district titles in 2012, 2013 and 2015 and a regional crown in 2013. Cagle also earned all-area honors for each of her four high school seasons while compiling a 70-23-8 record during her high school career with 19 shutouts.

The Pensacola, Fla., native was named the USA Today Player of the Week in November of 2014. As a junior, Cagle made 96 saves with three shutouts while going 13-9-1 wile also contributing nine goals and six assists. As a senior, she scored 18 goals and added 16 assists to go with 38 saves in goal and an 18-7-2 record. She also played as a wing and a center mid, totaling 44 goals and 30 assists

Cagle played club ball with Birmingham United ECNL, Gulf Coast Texans and ODP. She led the Kickers to the 2013 State Cup and three-straight Disney Showcase crowns (2011, 2012, 2013).

Cagle did not see any action at Tennessee due to a redshirt. She will be a redshirt freshman for the Trojans in 2016.
