Trojan Pentathletes Set to Compete at Samford Multi Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Troy will send two student-athletes to the Samford Multi Invitational at the CrossPlex on Thursday to compete in the pentathlon, a series of five events: the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800-meter run. Events will begin at noon.

Freshman Gemma Finch and junior Riley Schwietz will represent Troy as they seek to establish solid marks in their first pentathlons of the season. For Finch, this will be her first pentathlon as a Trojan.

"Riley and Gemma have both made significant improvements since we kicked off fall training last year," head coach Marc Davis said. "They're both athletic and powerful, and they're learning to hone those attributes with technique. This meet is all about refining the skills we've built on in practice, but I expect to see personal bests from both of them in at least one or two events."

This weekend, the Trojan women's squad will travel to the CrossPlex again for the Emory Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 24.
