Men’s Golf Wraps Up Opening Weekend at The Invitational

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Cam Norman turned in a top-10 finish in his first career appearance for Troy as he tied for ninth place at The Invitational at the Ocean Course at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort; the Trojans finished the season-opening event in seventh place.
Norman finished the weekend 4-over par after shooting an 8-over 80 in Saturday's final round. Luke Moser had the best round of the day for the Trojans as he shot a 1-over 73 thanks to a pair of birdies and finished tied for 16th place.
Clayton Vannoy closed out his opening weekend with a 7-over 79 to finish 10-over for the tournament and tied for 25th place. Jared Bettcher once again had an up-and-down round with four birdies, but six bogeys and a double-bogey. Bettcher shot a 4-over 76 on Saturday and finished tied for 28th place overall.
Freshman Calum Masters had his best round of the weekend as he shot a 6-over 78 with three birdies on the day; he finished the tournament tied for 78th place. Sean Stone rounded out the field for the Trojans in a tie for 80th place.
Georgia Southern rallied past host College of Charleston to claim the team title by four strokes, while College of Charleston's William Rainey won the individual title.
The Trojans will be back in action on Sept. 26-27 when they co-host the Sun Belt Preview with South Alabama at the Raven Golf Course at the Sandestin Resort.
