Troy Football Wraps Practice Six of Fall Camp
8/6/2015 2:31:00 PM | Football
Â
TROY, Alabama – Running the ball and stopping the run was the focus Thursday during Troy's near two-hour workout on the practice fields behind Trojan Arena. The Trojans will have one more practice before Saturday's opening scrimmage of fall camp.
Â
The Trojans spent the team portion of practice working on short-yardage situations. Saturday's scrimmage will feature a lot of the same as head coach Neal Brown wants the early focus offensively and defensively to be on the run game. Friday's practice time has been adjusted, as the Trojans will workout at 8 a.m. on the fields behind Trojan Arena.
Â
Season tickets for Troy's five home games, as well as tickets for away games, are available for purchase online, via telephone or in person. Season ticket prices start as low as $50 for general admission seats and $100 for reserved seats.Â

On an intense day of practice…
We are testing them right now. I think you've got to have a mental toughness about you; it's all about a mentality. I don't care if it's offense, defense, or special teams, you have to have a toughness about you and you have to have an edge. We had some guys show up today and we had some guys that turned it down and that's where we're at. We're only as good as our weakest link. We are going to grind on them tomorrow again and then we're going to come back on Saturday, strap it up and scrimmage.
Â
On the scrimmage…
We're going to focus on the run game. We're going to run the football on offense. That's what we did today. We're going to line it up and the defense is going to have to stop the run. I've been saying that since I got this job, to win this league, which is our goal every year, is that we are going to have to run the football and we've got to stop the run. We're going to keep working on it until we get good at both of them.
Â
On how close they are to finishing installing everything…
We've got basically everything we've got on offense put in. Defensively, with so many new guys and young faces, they're taking it a little bit slower, as they should. Offensively, we're just starting to put our motions in and fine tune things. We've got to figure out who we are offensively. We know some guys we can count on, and we're breaking in some new offensive linemen. We have to put them in as many adverse situations as possible. On defense we have to get those young guys to come on. On defense we've got to have a mentality about us. We've got to be able to play through adversity and we have to have some toughness. The positive thing is we have some leaders on that side of the ball that have some edge to them, some toughness about them. Montres Kitchens has a toughness about him, Tyler Roberts has an edge to him. So, we need those guys to step up and bring the other guys along.
