TROY, Alabama – Troy men's basketball head coach Phil Cunningham announced on Monday his team's non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2015-16 campaign.
The lineup features 11 games, with four home games, plus one home exhibition. Highlighting the non-conference slate is in-state rival UAB's trip to Trojan Arena on November 19. The Blazers upset 3rd-seeded Iowa State, 60-59, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season, and return all five starters from that team.
"We are looking forward to the challenge of playing such a strong non-conference schedule," Cunningham said. "Our players and fans should definitely be excited about the number of quality opponents we will face before Sun Belt play begins."
After a home exhibition game on November 5 against AUM, the Trojans open their season on the road against South Florida on November 13, the first game of a home-and-home series. USF will play at Troy in December 2016.
As a part of the Mean Green Showcase, the Trojans home opener will be against Reinhardt on November 15. The Trojans will travel to Denton, Texas, for the remaining games of the Mean Green Showcase to face Samford on November 23, Idaho on November 24 and wrapping up the tournament against host North Texas, on November 25.
The Trojans will then welcome another Conference USA member, Southern Miss, to Trojan Arena on December 1. Last year at Reed Green Coliseum, the Trojans fell to the Eagles, 72-70.
After welcoming Austin Peay to Trojan Arena on December 5, Troy hits the road to face Big East opponent, Seton Hall, on December 10 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
The Trojans will then return to Alabama to face Paine College at the Dothan Civic Center on December 17. Troy will be playing in Dothan for the second straight season after cruising to an 80-63 win over Fort Valley State in 2014-15.
The Trojans wrap up their non-conference schedule in Oxford, Miss., against Ole Miss who finished last season with a 21-13 mark, including a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Troy's double round-robin Sun Belt schedule has already been released. The Trojans open league play at home on December 30 against Arkansas State. Troy then hosts Little Rock on January 2.
The 2016 Sun Belt Conference Championships begin on March 10 at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
