Troy Set to Face UT Arlington to Open Sun Belt Tournament

TROY, Alabama – The Troy baseball team will square off against seventh-seeded UT Arlington to open the Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field.

Troy (30-23, 18-10 Sun Belt) has qualified for all ten Sun Belt tournaments since joining the league in 2006. The Trojans are 16-14 all-time in the SBC tournament.

UT Arlington (23-30, 14-16) took two-of-three games from the Troy in mid-April and also defeated the Trojans in last season's tournament in Mobile.

Entering the tournament, Troy has won 10 straight league games at home and finished the 2015 regular season 13-2 in Sun Belt play. The Trojans last conference loss at home came on March 21 in the front end of a doubleheader against UALR. Overall, Troy is 22-10 at Riddle-Pace Field this season.

The Mavericks lost two-of-three games in their regular season finale against Texas State. UTA is tied for the third in the league with a .273 team batting average led by senior infielder Travis Sibley, who is battin .348 with 43 RBIs.

Three Trojans – Logan Hill, David Hall and Trevin Hall – enter the tournament batting over .340. Freshman Reid Long leads all Sun Belt freshmen with eight home runs while David Hall enters with a 19-game reached base streak.

Lucas Brown (6-2, 2.34) will take the mound to kick off tournament play for the Trojans. Brown is third is the conference in ERA and fifth in wins.
