Huynh Wins Sun Belt Weekly Award

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – Troy women's tennis junior Trang Huynh has been named the Sun Belt Co-Female Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Huynh posted two wins over Sun Belt opponents in singles play last, defeating Masa Grgan of Georgia State and Clare Cox of Appalachian State, both in straight sets.
The junior has now won 10 straight singles matches, all at the No. 1 position, and is now 13-3 on the season.
In doubles play, with a new partner for the first time this season, Huynh and Jiayuan Xue posted a 1-1 record on the week with the lone loss being a close one to No. 61 Tarani Kamoe and Linn Timmermann of Georgia State, 8-6.
The award is the third of the season for Huynh and the sixth of her career. The Troy men's and women's tennis teams have now combined for eight Sun Belt Athlete of the Week awards this season.
Huynh and the Trojans close their regular season on Sunday when they host Florida A&M at 12 p.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The Trojans will then travel to the Sun Belt Championships which begin on Thursday, April 16, in New Orleans.
