Five Trojans Set Personal Records in First Day at Tiger Track Classic

AUBURN, Alabama – The Troy track and field team wrapped up the first day of the Tiger Track Classic Friday evening, with five Trojans earning new personal records in their respective events.

Two Trojans competed in the women's javelin throw, and were led by Riley Schwietz, who finished sixth with a throw of 39.35-meters, narrowly missing her personal record which she set last week at the UNF Spring Break Invitational. Also competing in the event for Troy, Aleeah Stigarll set a new personal record with a throw of 31.04-meters.

In the hammer throw, Allison Taylor threw for 43.31-meters, crushing her previous record by over a meter. Jaevyn Wortham also competed in the women's hammer throw finishing with a heave of 41.28-meters.

Continuing for the women's squad, Nesha Defoe leapt 11.39-meters for a new personal record in the triple jump.

On the men's side, Douglas Dyer claimed a top-10 finish in the javelin throw as he set a new personal record with a 51.25-meter throw. Freshman Clay Coburn competed in the javelin throw for the first time as a Trojan, finishing with a 41.29-meter toss.

Johnnathan Valdez broke his previous personal record by posting a 41.01-meter throw in men's hammer throw.
