Penn Relays
Â
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - The Troy Trojan's quartet of Paige McMillan, Niata Alexander, Cameia Alexander and Sydney Wright highlighted action at the Penn Relays on Friday afternoon.
Â
The Trojans 4x200-meter relay team raced to an 11th place finish in the college women's 4x200 with a time of 1:38.28, which bested No. 21 Missouri and also topped Sun Belt foe Georgia State, and broke a 10-year old school record
Â
"Despite the cold, these women have competed well," said Director of Track and Field Marc Davis. "First, Cori Cox stepped up against some of the best in the country in the discus. The women's 4x200 put themselves on the map and were in contention for the Championship of America final, and had the most crowd-pleasing finish of the day. Alexus Cobbs entered the biggest meet of her career and competed at a high level against some of the best jumpers in the country in both the long and triple jump. She also ran a strong leg on our 4x100 yesterday. Great meet thus with Joevar and Demetris to go tomorrow.
Â
Alexus Cobbs started out for the Trojans in the triple jump. Cobbs narrowly missed a personal record as she leaped 11.7-meters.Â
Â
In the championship discus throw, Corina Cox, a Los Fresnos, Texas, native, placed fifth with a 49.88-meter heave.
