Troy Set to Host ULM for Sun Belt Series

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team is set to host ULM for a Sun Belt Conference series at the Troy Softball Complex beginning with a doubleheader on Friday and the series finale on Saturday, The first game of the doubleheader is set for 3 p.m. and the second game is slated for 5 p.m. The series finale will begin at noon on Saturday.

Troy (19-17, 4-5 Sun Belt) split with in-state rival UAB earlier this week on Tuesday and is playing its first Sun Belt game since March 21st.

Hannah Day leads the Trojans offensively with a .359 batting average, 32 RBIs and two triples. Day has also hit eight doubles and has four home runs this season.

Troy has hit 32 long balls, which marks them for fifth best in the Sun Belt. Becca Hartley leads the team with seven home runs of her own. The Trojans also have 51 doubles this season, which is third most in the conference. Khadija Neely is credited with 12 of the Trojans 51 doubles.

Jaycee Affeldt leads the Troy pitching staff with a 2.85 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 103 innings pitched, all of which are tops on the team. Troy has an overall ERA of 4.00, which is the fifth best ERA in the conference.

Day is batting .458 in conference games with a double, triple and home run. Day has driven in 15 runs and is slugging .708 and has two stolen bases. Rainey is 4-for-10 offensively in Sun Belt games with three of her four hits being extra base hits, one double and two home runs. Ashley Rainey is slugging 1.100 with 5 RBIs and has drawn seven walks in conference play.

ULM (24-9, 8-2 Sun Belt) dropped a non-conference contest to No. 2 LSU last time out. The Warhawks are led offensively by Rochelle Roberts, who is batting .410 with five doubles, three triples, and one home run. Roberts has driven in 17 runs is slugging .543 on the season.

The Warhawks have five players with 10 steals or more this season, as Roberts is leading the charge with 25 swipes on 26 attempts. ULM has stolen 99 bases on 117 attempts this season, which leads the Sun Belt and the NCAA.

Troy leads the all-time series against ULM, 17-11, and has an 8-3 record when facing the Warhawks at home. ULM won the last game against the Trojans, 3-2, in Lafayette, La., as part of the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
