Troy Falls at Sun Belt Championships

NEW ORLEANS – The Troy women's tennis team fell in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championships on Friday, falling to UT Arlington, 4-1, at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center in New Orleans.
Troy (10-9), the tournament's No. 6 seed, sees its season come to an end as UT Arlington (15-5), the tournament's No. 3 seed, snapped the Trojans' three-match winning streak.
As part of a shortened format, singles matches were played first and doubles matches would be played only if necessary. UT Arlington quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead with wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles.
Jiayuan Xue got the Trojans on the board with a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) win at No. 4 singles. However, the Mavericks clinched the match with wins at No. 3 and No. 1 singles.
UT Arlington moved on to face No. 2 Georgia State in Saturday's semifinals.
