No. 34 Troy Maintains Standing on Day Two of Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Tolver Dozier fired a 3-under 69 to lead the No. 34 Troy men's golf team in the second round of the Furman Intercollegiate at the Furman Golf Course on Saturday. Dozier moved into a tie for seventh place overall, while the Trojans remained in third place after shooting a 2-over 290.
Dozier made the turn at 1-under after a birdie on No. 5 and moved to three under with three birdies on the first six holes of the front nine. A bogey on No. 8 closed out his round, but not before he jumped 30 spots up the leaderboard.
Clayton Vannoy, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 16th overall after shooting a 3-under 69 in the second round. Vannoy had three birdies on the front nine and traded a birdie for a bogey on the back nine.
Luke Moser has his sights set on a top five finish after he shot even par Saturday. Moser will enter Sunday's final round in fifth after he had four birdies on his card in the second round.
Two Trojans are tied for 39th place as Phillip Brennan and Jared Bettcher shot a 74 and 75, respectively, on Saturday. Brennan had four birdies in his round while Bettcher had one birdie. Jake Tucker finished his day with a 3-over 75 after carding three birdies and is tied for 57th place, while Wil Clowdus, who is playing as an individual, shot a 75 and is tied for 63rd place.
Georgia State leads the team race by five strokes over USC-Aiken, while Troy is eight shots back of the Panthers in third place.
Troy will play in the top paring Sunday alongside Georgia State and USC-Aiken; the teams will play a shotgun start beginning at 9:30 a.m. (CDT).
