NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – The Troy women's outdoor track and field team picked up its second-straight Sun Belt award this week. This week, Corina Cox has been named Sun Belt women's field athlete of the week, the Sun Belt Conference office announced Wednesday.
Â
"Cori is picking up where she left off last year," said Director of Track and Field Marc Davis. "She is focused and ready for some huge performances this year and beyond."
Â
Cox clinched first place on Saturday at the 2015 John Mitchell Alabama Relays in the discus throw. Her 52.48-meter heave set a new personal record for the senior, and is the top mark in the Sun Belt this year.
Â
"This was a great throw for Cori," said throws coach Michelle Clayton. "This is only the start of the season and a great confidence boost to propel her to greater achievements to come."
Â
This weekend, the Trojans are set to compete at the 2015 Spring Break Invitational, which is hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. Field events kick off the meet on Friday, March 27, at 10 a.m.
