Troy Softball Travels to Kennesaw State for Doubleheader

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team is set to travel to Kennesaw, Ga., for a mid-week doubleheader on Tuesday against Kennesaw State at Bailey Softball Complex. The first game is set to begin at 2 p.m. CT.

Troy (18-14) enters the doubleheader coming off a series loss against No. 7 UL Lafayette. The Trojans beat No. 10 Florida State, 6-4, on March 18th and No. 7 UL Lafayette, 9-5, for the first game of the doubleheader on March 21st, which was the first time in school history Troy had back-to-back wins over two top-10 teams.

Becca Hartley at the plate batting .284 with 21 RBIs and leads the team in home runs with six.

Hannah Day has a .370 batting average and 31 RBIs, which leads the team. She has seven doubles, two triples and four home runs on the season. Day also leads the team with a .620 slugging percentage.

Khadija Neely leads the team with 10 of Troy's 45 doubles. Troy's 45 doubles ranks them third in the Sun Belt.

Jaycee Affeldt leads the team with a 2.94 ERA and has 72 strikeouts in 88 innings of work. Opposing batters are only hitting .231 when facing Affeldt.

Kennesaw State (19-10) is led offensively by Hillary Kartman, who has a .307 batting average with seven home runs and 25 RBIs. Kartman has tallied three doubles, one triple and has a .653 slugging percentage on the season. The Owls are 10-6 at home this season and have posted a 17-6 record against non-conference opponents. Â

Last year, Troy and Kennesaw State faced each other with the Trojans winning, 5-0, in the Troy Subway Invitational. Kennesaw State leads Troy in the all-time series, 4-3.
