Troy Baseball Set for Midweek Swing

TROY, Alabama – The Troy University baseball team will host Jacksonville State at 6 p.m. on Tuesday before traveling to Tallahassee to face Florida A&M at 4 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday. Live video, audio and stats on Tuesday will stream on TroyTrojans.com. Live audio and stats for Wednesday's contest will also be available. WTBF 94.7 FM will carry the radio broadcast for both games.
Troy (11-12) is coming off a Sun Belt Conference series win over UALR over the weekend. With the pair of wins, head coach Bobby Pierce is just four wins from passing Chase Riddle as the school's winningest coach.
Trevin Hall continues to lead the Trojans at the plate with a .402 average and enters the week batting .444 with 10 RBIs in 16 non-conference games. On the bases, Clay Holcomb leads the league with 11 stolen bases. Reid Long is riding a five-game hitting streak while Logan Hill has reached base in six consecutive games.
Tucker Simpson is scheduled to get the start on the mound for Troy on Tuesday. Simpson (1-2, 8.10) will be making his fifth start of the season. In his last outing, he allowed three runs over four innings of work against UAB.
Jacksonville State (12-8) swept Eastern Illinois over the weekend. Both Troy and Jacksonville State enter the contest winners of four of their last five games.
Pacing the Gamecocks at the plate is Ryan Sebra with a .432 average and 20 RBIs. Jacksonville State is batting .298 as a team, which is tops in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Florida A&M have hit a skid of late as the Rattlers have fallen in eight straight games. North Carolina Central took all three games from FAMU over the weekend. Marlon Gibbs is batting a team-high .345 with 20 RBIs for the Rattlers.
Troy leads the all-time series against Florida A&M 32-4 including a 14-3 mark in Tallahassee.
