The victory gave Troy back-to-back wins over a top-10 team for the first time in school history.

Troy (18-12, 4-3 Sun Belt) fell behind early, 5-1, but scored eight unanswered runs, seven of them came in the sixth and seventh innings.

With the Trojans down 5-4, Hannah Day singled through the right side with two-outs and the bases loaded in the sixth inning to drive in the tying and go-ahead run. Another run scored on the same play on a throwing error by the UL Lafayette right fielder and made the score, 7-5.

The Trojans added two more in the top of the seventh on a Khadija Neely single that scored Amanda Winters, who reached on a four-pitch walk, that made the score, 8-5. The final run of the game, Becca Hartley, scored on a wild pitch.

UL Lafayette (23-4, 8-2 Sun Belt) scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning as one scored on the play and another scored on an error to make the score, 2-0. Another run came on a sacrifice fly from Shellie Landry and the Ragin' Cajuns scored one more on the second Trojan error of the inning.

Ashley Rainey (6-2) got the start and the win for Troy as she pitched five innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on six hits. Jaycee Affeldt came in to close the door for the Trojans as she picked up her first save of the season and did not give up a run or hit in two innings of work and struck out five.

The Trojans scored nine runs on just three hits. Neely had one with two RBIs, Kate Benton had one with one RBI and Day had one with the game-tying and go-ahead RBIs.

The win snapped a 27-game home win streak for the Ragin' Cajuns, and was the first win against UL Lafayette in Lafayette since 2007.

Both teams scored all but one run in their respective halves of the first inning. Troy scored two in the top half and UL Lafayette scored five in the bottom half.
Rainey hit a two-out no-doubter to left center to score Hartley, who reached on a single through the right side to go up, 2-0.

Troy (18-13, 4-4 Sun Belt) added another run in the fourth with a solo shot from Hartley to left center to make the score, 5-3. Hartley in the game went 2-for-3 with one RBI and scored two of three runs.

UL Lafayette (24-4, 9-2 Sun Belt) tied the game at two in the bottom of the first on a home run from Shellie Landry, but took the lead as Kendall White scored on a groundout to the pitcher. The Ragin' Cajuns added two more in the game on an RBI triple and a wild pitch on a strikeout to put the game at, 5-2.

The Ragin Cajuns added their final run on a solo home run from Lexie Elkins in the fifth inning.

Sara Mock (3-7) took the loss as she got the start in the circle. Mock gave up four earned runs on one hit and walked three. Affeldt, who made her 19th relief appearance of the season and second of the day, pitched six innings and only allowed two earned runs on four hits and struck out five.

The rubber match between the two teams is set for Sunday at noon.
