Troy Track and Field Wraps Up First Day in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Despite a brief power outage, the Troy track and field squad wrapped up its first day of competition at the John Mitchell Alabama relays, picking up three top-10 finishes.

Paige McMillan had a strong showing as she led the Trojans with the highest finish of the day as she placed fourth in the 100-meter dash at 12.17 seconds.

Also on the women's side, the 4x200-meter relay team of McMillan, Cameia Alexander, Alexus Cobbs and Sydney Wright picked up ninth-place finish with a time of 1:39.54.

On the men's side, Cameron Rice earned another Trojan top-10 finish, as he placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.25 seconds.

In the women's 5k, Julia Ostendorf led the way for Troy posting a time of 17:55.55. Mikayla Hodges and Sara Zylstra also competed, finishing up with times of 18:20.57 and 18:47.63.

Other Trojans the competed today include Naomi Sheppard, Dylan Ogburn, and Tim Bulger. Sheppard finished the women's 1,500-meter race at 5:09.75m while Ogburn and Bulger, finished with a times of 16:01.72 and 16:19.56, respectively, in the men's 5k race. Â

The Trojans resume competition tomorrow at noon with the discus throw. The Alabama Relays kick off track events with the women's 4x100 relay promptly at 2 p.m.
