AUGUSTA, Georgia – Fátima Fernández Cano fired a school record 6-under 65 to lead the Troy women's golf team to a school record 284 in the second round of the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate on Saturday at the Forest Hills Golf Club. The Trojans moved up a pair of spots on the leaderboard into fourth place.
Cano picked up four birdies on the front nine and three on the back nine around a bogey for her record-setting round. Sofia Bjorkman held the previous record as she shot a 67 at the Golfweek Challenge during the 2012-13 season.
Troy's round of 284 (even par on the par-71 course) established a new school record by three strokes, which was previously set last season at the Fred Marx Invitational. The five lowest rounds in school history have all come in the last two seasons.
Taylor McGraw shot 19 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 20th place after she posted an even-par 71 thanks to three birdies and an eagle on her day. McGraw is tied with Becca Horner after Horner carded a birdie around four bogeys to finish her day 3-over.
Sydney Conrad is within striking distance of a top 10 finish after she turned in a round of 3-over Saturday. Conrad had a pair of birdies on the back nine and sits in a tie for 11th place. Langey Vannoy will enter Sunday's final round tied for 44th after she carded a 4-over 75.
Coastal Carolina will carry a three shot lead over Furman into the final round, while the Trojans are just four shots back of Kennesaw State for third place.
The Trojans open the final round at 8 a.m. (CDT) as the shotgun start will place them on holes five through eight.
