Troy Women Return to the Links at 3M Jaguar Invitational

TROY, Alabama – Fresh off a seventh place finish in the 40-team Kiawah Island Spring Classic, the Troy women's golf team heads to Augusta, Ga., and the Forest Hills Golf Club for the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate held Friday thru Sunday.

The Trojans enter the weekend ranked third in the Sun Belt and 93rd nationally in the latest Golfstat rankings; the top three teams in the league are separated by just 12 spots nationally. Individually, sophomore Fátima Fernández Cano is currently second in the league, while Langley Vannoy ranks ninth in the Sun Belt.

Cano tied for 14th to lead the Trojans at Kiawah Island two weeks ago after shooting a 4-over 220, including a second-round 71. Cano, who leads the Trojans with a 74.16 stroke average, tied for sixth place last year at the Jaguar Intercollegiate after shooting a 224.

Vannoy carries a 76.06 stroke average into this weekend's tournament and will be a key piece to the Trojans getting off to a hot start. Vannoy is averaging a team-leading 74.8 in opening rounds this season as four of her last five opening round scores have been a 74 or lower.

Taylor McGraw has been a steady player for head coach Bart Barnes this season as 97.2 percent of her cards have counted towards the team score. She carries a 76.39 average with her to Forest Hills along with three top 25 finishes in six events this year.

Sydney Conrad opened with a 2-over 74 her last time out at Kiawah Island and enters the weekend with a 78.29 stroke average, while Becca Horner finished strong with rounds of 75 and 78 (both counted towards the team score) to set her stroke average at 78.47 on the year.

Including Troy, the field is comprised of nine teams currently ranked in the top 100 – No. 21 Furman, No. 40 GRU Augusta, No. 43 Coastal Carolina, No. 63 Kennesaw State, No. 80 Chattanooga, No. 85 Columbia, No. 87 Lamar, No. 89 East Tennessee State – Marshall, Maryland, Mercer and UNC Greensboro round out the field.
