Trojans Look To Continue Road Success

JONESBORO, Arkansas –After a 55-54 win over UT Arlington on Saturday night, the Troy men's basketball team hits the road again as it faces Arkansas State on Thursday at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Tip off between the Trojans and Red Wolves is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Just three games ago, Troy fell to Arkansas State despite holding an 11-point lead with just over 18 minutes remaining. The Red Wolves went on a 27-5 run to regain its own 11-point lead. Troy couldn't regain the lead as it fell to Arkansas State, 64-55.

Three Trojans tallied double figures in the loss, including Kevin Thomas who earned his 10th career double-double with a game-high 20 points and team-high 11 rebounds, nine of which were offensive. Freshman Wesley Person chipped in 14 points in his 15th game in double figures. Chris Bilbo also added 11 points for Troy.

Troy (8-12, 3-8) snapped its four-game losing streak on Saturday at UT Arlington as Kelton Ford sunk a pair of free throws with three seconds remaining to give the Trojans their first Sun Belt road win of the season.

John Walton III led Troy in the win as he earned his second double-double of the season, as he posted a career night with 18 points, in large part to his 10-of-12 showing from the charity stripe.

Person, who ranks second among NCAA freshmen in 3-pointers per game, shot 4-of-5 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc on his way to 13 points, tallying his 17th career game in double figures. Person also reeled in a career-high seven boards.

Arkansas State (9-12, 4-8) is led by Cameron Golden and Anthony Livingston, who tally 14.7 and 14.6 points per game, respectively. Golden also leads the team in steals, while Livingston leads the Red Wolves in blocks and rebounds. The Red Wolves are looking to snap a two-game losing streak as it lost at home to UALR and then on the road to Sun Belt leader Georgia State.

Troy continues its road stretch as it faces Appalachian State in Boone, N.C., on Saturday, February 7 at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center.
