Huynh Named Sun Belt Tennis Athlete of Week

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – Troy women's tennis junior Trang Huynh was named the Sun Belt Female Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Huynh, a native of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, posted a perfect 2-0 week in both singles and doubles with wins over UNCW and North Florida.
The junior played at No. 2 singles for the Trojans and cruised in straight sets in both of her singles wins. Huynh beat UNCW's Alyssa Ritchie, 6-3, 6-3, then beat North Florida's Esther Zuniga, 6-2, 6-1.
Huynh and her doubles partner, Anja Cosovic, are now a perfect 5-0 in doubles play this season, all at No. 1 doubles. Troy, as a team, defeated UNCW but fell to North Florida.
The award is the fourth of Huynh's career as she was named Sun Belt Female Tennis Athlete of the Week three times last season. For the second straight week a Trojans has won a Sun Belt weekly award after Hassan Ndayishimye won the male award last week.
Huynh and the Troy women return to the court on Sunday when they travel to take on No. 28 Auburn at the Yarbrough Tennis Center at 5 p.m.
