• Linebacker William Lloyd had a pair of big plays. He had a third-down sack on the opening series of the game, which forced a three-and-out for ULM. In the third quarter, he also had a strip of running back Kaylon Watson, which was recovered by Lonnie Gosha.

• Troy's defense applied pressure on Garrett Smith early and often. Lloyd's sack ended the first ULM drive. Tyler Roberts forced a fumble on the next drive and Rashad Dillard forced a fumble on the next drive – both were recovered by Darrin Reddick.

• Troy forced six turnovers on the day. LaMarcus Farmer jumped a screen pass and took the interception 55 yards for a touchdown. Gosha recovered the fumble that was caused by Lloyd in the third quarter. Farmer had another interception in the third and Montres Kitchens intercepted a deep pass attempt late in the game.

• Kicker Jed Solomon scored 15 points – 6/6 extra points and 3/4 field goals. The Troy record for points by a kicker is 17 by Sam Glusman. Solomon had a 20-yard field goal blocked early in the fourth quarter.

• Brandon Burks scored on a 75-yard reception down the right sideline in the second quarter. It was his fifth play from scrimmage this season of longer than 50 yards. He finished 11 receiving yards shy of becoming just the second player in Troy history to record 100 rushing and 100 receiving yards in a game in school history.

• ULM scored twice on deep passes over the middle in the first quarter. However, the Trojans quickly responded both times with a score of their own. They had touchdown drives of 55 yards on three plays in 52 seconds and 75 yards on one play lasting 20 seconds.
